Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve written…to those 3 of you who read this. 🙂 I think I’ve been channeling my creativity into other venues and projects, so it hasn’t boiled over into written form as much lately. We’ll see if this sparks something!
This afternoon, in stinkin February!, it was 64 degrees and I was in the sun with my wife pulling weeds. I’m still floored by the fact that I’m living in California and I feel like winter should be just around the corner! Nope…here comes spring. Our backyard was looking pretty trashy and we decided to remedy that. It looks great. I hate pulling weeds…we had flowerbeds galore growing up and as a younger kid I’d be helping with the dirty deed. Although, now that I own my own home, it’s such an accomplishment to make what you’ve been given look good. God asks us to value what we have, because they are from Him and for His glory. FOR His glory. Not for your own, but that you would use what you have in a positive manner.Emily and I just felt so good to have rid our home of weeds and nastiness and there is a sense of renewal afterward.
It’s a lot like confession. It stinks to do it and no one enjoys drudging up one’s dirt. But when we lay them before God, He sends us away feeling refreshed, renewed and forgiven. We are then prepared to go back into the world living FOR Him. HE is the only one who can remove those weeds. Not a self-help book or following your heart. HE IS your heart and when you let Him weed it out, it’s much more clean and healthy.
Very timely for me brother, great post. Glad to hear you have such pleasant weather over there.
We miss you guys a ton. Thanks for your comment on my blog the other day, it brought back many fond memories of our high school days together.
Say hi to Emily for me.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. We miss you very much too! You’re welcome- there are a lot of things that remind me of our days. Foundational times spent with a very good friend!
Say hi to your Emily as well! and give Corban a high-five from me and someday soon I’ll get to meet him!
We’ll be in MN in June- want to get together?
Peace,
Seth
